Rewire Your Thinking: How to Use MPA Mode to Shift Perspective and Empower Growth
By Natalie Masucci, B.A., B.Ed.
You've probably heard the phrase "Perspective is everything." And it's true. The way we perceive a situation can either limit us or liberate us.
Imagine looking out of an airplane window. Everything below looks small and manageable. That's what perspective can do. But in the midst of stress, overwhelm, or self-doubt, it's hard to access that elevated view. That's where Multiple Perspective Advantage (MPA) Mode comes in.
MPA is a tool for self-regulation. It invites us to step outside of ourselves, observe our thoughts, and question whether those thoughts are based on fact, fear, or faith. Drawing from neuroplasticity research and spiritual wisdom, MPA mode helps rewire your mind and unlock solutions you couldn't previously see.
What Is MPA Mode?
MPA Mode is a process that involves filtering your internal narrative through three lenses:
1
Feelings
What am I experiencing emotionally?
2
Facts
What is actually true?
3
Faith
What does my higher self or spiritual belief say?
This simple framework gives structure to your self-reflection. It trains your brain to pause before spiraling, examine what's real, and shift into a higher perspective.
A Real-Life Example
Let's say you're struggling at work. You might think:
Feelings Layer
"I keep making mistakes. Maybe I'm not cut out for this. I feel stupid. I should just quit."
Facts Layer
"I haven't been reprimanded. My colleagues are supportive. I got a good review last month. I'm improving every day."
Faith Layer
"I believe I was given this job for a reason. I am learning. I am growing. I have what it takes."
When you stack the three perspectives side by side, a shift happens. You move from feeling defeated to feeling capable. You recognize that your feelings are valid but not always accurate.
Why This Works:
The Science
According to neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf, your brain is constantly changing based on how you think. When you identify and challenge a toxic thought, you literally weaken its structure in the brain. It loses power. With time and repetition, your brain creates new pathways that favour helpful, empowering beliefs.
This process is called neuroplasticity. Contrary to the old belief that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks," the brain is highly malleable well into adulthood. Every time you reject a negative thought, you free up valuable neural real estate for thoughts that serve you better.
Practice Over Time
MPA Mode isn't a one-time exercise. It's a practice. And like any habit, consistency is key.

Dr. Leaf's research shows that forming a new mental habit takes about 63 days, which is longer than the old myth of 21.
But with repeated use, your brain starts running the Feelings, Facts, Faith sequence automatically. This helps you become more grounded, confident, and solution-focused.
Faith Meets Function
Many of us are boxed in by limiting beliefs, false narratives that whisper, "You're not good enough," or "You'll never succeed." But what if that box is also your vantage point?
MPA Mode invites you to stand on the box, not shrink beneath it. As it says in Isaiah 55:9, "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways." When we elevate our thinking, we see from a higher place.
Whether you call it faith, inner wisdom, or higher self, aligning your perspective with something greater can help you reclaim clarity and courage.
Putting MPA into Practice
This week, try using MPA Mode:
Journal your thoughts
Use the Feelings, Facts, and Faith format to structure your reflections.
Question your thoughts
Ask yourself: Is this thought based on fact, feeling, or assumption? Is it helpful or harmful?
Share your discoveries
Discuss what you learn with a trusted coach or colleague.
Even one round of this process can disrupt a negative spiral and give you momentum.
Final Thoughts
The brain creates whatever we consistently believe and say. If we're not careful, our inner narrative becomes a blueprint for self-sabotage. But when we choose to think differently, speak truth over fear, and take action from faith, we change our lives from the inside out.
MPA Mode is more than a mindset tool. It's a way of being, a habit of seeing with new eyes.
You are fully equipped. You are not stuck. And you are allowed to think differently.
